| FAQs |
If
you can't find the answer here, just give us a call - 01821
642 713. WHAT DO WE
MEAN BY A LEVEL SITE? a) First peg
out the area in the garden where you want your building to go. b) Make sure
it is the same size as you expect the building to be. c) Take a
piece of timber and lay it across the width of the area. d) Place your
spirit level on top of the timber and take your reading: remember that
the bubble should be in the middle of the window. e) Repeat
this process in order to obtain a reading from front to back of the
area and also across the diagonals. f) If the
spirit level shows the site to be unlevel, then dig it over again, levelling
as you go and repeat from stage a).
It is necessary
that any difference in the level should not be more than 4", which
is the width of a concrete block. g) If you
have done your best to level the site and still have problems, please
phone the workshop for advice. HOW OFTEN
DO I NEED TO RE-TREAT THE BUILDING? Your building leaves the workshop with a base
coat of Butinox. You should re-treat the building as soon as
possible following delivery. Thereafter, please follow the manufacturer's
guidelines, which can be found on the tin.
WHAT SHOULD
I DO ABOUT CONDENSATION WITHIN THE BUILDING? Some buildings
may suffer from condensation, especially if you are using them to house
animals, or if they comprise a lot of glass. In order to avoid this
please ensure that your building is adequately aired, particularly in
the winter months when it will not be used to the same extent. WHY IS MY
FELT WRINKLY? Firstly, felt,
although manmade, responds to climate change in the same fashion as
wood: it expands and contracts. Therefore, you will sometimes notice
wrinkles and changes in the lie of the felt. This does not affect the
life of the felt. WHY IS MY
DOOR STICKING? Wood is a
natural product and expands and contracts in relation to climate change.
Therefore, during very wet weather the timber will absorb moisture and
expand making the door difficult to close, this may be because it has
been cut a little too tight during production. This is not insurmountable.
If within your guarantee time, please call us and we shall be happy
to rectify this for you. Outwith your guarantee time, please just plane
a little timber from the side of the door and it should close without
a problem. In order to prevent shrinkage during hot weather, please
ensure you treat the building regularly getting the brush into all the
nooks and crannies. Please note
that the door may also stick if a corner of the building has dropped.
This happens when the original site has not been properly levelled prior
to delivery.
WHAT SHOULD
I USE TO TREAT THE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING? You may wish
to use the same as is used externally, Butinox. However,
if you want to use varnish, please use a clear preservative first and
then a vapour-permeable varnish on top, such as Butinox No 4, available
from most good decorating outlets.
