Gillies & Mackay are known throughout Scotland for production of high quality buildings, their playhouses are no exception.

Although Gillies & Mackay can build a playhouse to your own design and specification, they have a few designs to get you started, including the much loved Bunkhouse. Below is the specification for the standard designs, all of which are fully customisable.

All playhouses are constructed of either 14mm or 19mm redwood weatherboard on 2 x 1 1/2" framing with 19mm tongue & groove floors on 3" x 2" floor joists. The roof is covered with a tear resistant, heavy duty polyester based roofing felt, which will give many years of waterproof service. All buildings are treated with one coat of Butinox No1 wood stain. You will need to re-treat as soon as possible following delivery.

Playhouse doors are made using piano hinges, they provide clearance to avoid children trapping their fingers, and use acrylic windows that resist shattering.

The Wendy House design provides a basic playhouse for all children of many ages, whilst both styles of Bunkhouse are suited to children of school going age. Playhouses of any style are great investments, there are few toys that offer so many years of enjoyment.

The Bunkhouse has an asymmetrical roof to accommodate the internal bunk, whereas the Crazy Bunk has a bunk over the veranda.

For more active children there is the G Hut and The Fort.

Finally, for young children taking their first steps into outdoor activities is the Toddlers Playhouse.

Gillies & Mackay pride themselves in the production of high quality buildings at reasonable prices. Unlike many manufacturers that use inferior materials to keep costs down, Gillies & Mackay rely on only three methods to keep costs down; bargaining with suppliers, buying in bulk and efficient work practices.
