Can I have electricity installed during delivery?
If you choose to have electricity added, we often do this on delivery. As part of our project management service, we will take care of arranging this for you. The electrical work isn’t done by our team but instead carried out by our accredited electricians.
We work closely with RC Electrical who do the majority of our electrical work. However, if you want to organise the electric installation yourself, you’re welcome to. Please note we always recommend using a professional electrician to do this.
Here’s how our process works:
Day 1: Our team arrives and will construct the body of your Radiata Garden Room.
Day 2: The electrical team arrives to install the ‘first fit’ of electrics. This involves running electricity from your home to your garden room. At this stage, you’ll still be able to see the wires sticking out the interior walls.
Lining and Insulation: Our finishing team arrives to line and insulate your building. They will hide the electrical wires behind the lining of your building.
Final Fit: The electricians will return to complete the ‘final fit’ of electrics, adding sockets, switches and light fixtures. When this is complete, your Radiata Garden Room will be ready to use!
If you are keen to use electricity in your garden room right away, then this installation method is the choice for you.
Can I have electricity retrofitted?
Another option is to add electricity at a later date. Here are some reasons why you might choose to have your electrics retrofitted:
- This is a convenient option for those who want time to save up between the initial cost of the garden room and the electrical costs.
- You might want to figure out how often you’ll use the space and what its purpose will be before investing in electrics.
The retrofitting process is slightly different. The building has already been lined and insulated which means the electrical wires cannot be hidden in the walls. Instead, the wires are run outside of the interior walls and covered by metal conduit.
Some customers choose to have electricity retrofitted as an aesthetic choice because they prefer the finish of the metal conduit. However, if you have your electricity retrofitted, this needs to be arranged separately since it’s no longer covered by our project management service.

Can I add lighting to a Radiata Garden Room?

Without lighting, you’re relying on the natural light coming through the windows and doors of your garden room to light the space. Kitting out your space with mood lighting allows you to create an ambient atmosphere. If you’re looking to create a tranquil retreat for yourself, then adding some lamps or fairy lights to your space is the way to go. Or, if you’re using your garden room for a workspace, adding a desk lamp with focus lighting will create an environment perfect for deep concentration.
Can I heat a Radiata Garden Room?

These are a cheap and easy heating option, and our method of choice in our Show Area buildings. We got our oil-filled electric radiators for only £30, and all we had to do was attach the wheels and plug them in!
Infrared Heater: These quickly heat an area by heating people and objects in the room rather than the air. This works well for short periods but isn’t a great option if you want to maintain warmth over longer periods – like a full day. So, depending on the purpose of your garden room, this might not be the choice for you.

Adding electricity to your Radiata Garden Room has several benefits, but it may not be the right choice for everyone. Here are some key considerations:
How much does it cost to add electricity to my Radiata Garden Room?
If G&M are taking care of your installation, our accredited electricians will carry out a site visit and then provide you with a custom quote for the work. Each quote is different because it takes into account the condition of your site and the finish you want for your electrics.
A good ballpark figure for adding electrics to a Radiata Garden Room is around £900 – £1,300. A Radiata Garden Room requires two stages of electrical fitting because it’s a lined and insulated space. The electricians will do the first fit once the building has been assembled, then our team will line and insulate it, before the electricians return for the final fit.
