Planning permission for garages in Perth
Do you need planning permission for a garage?
There’s lots of information in our Timber Garage Prep Guide, and we’ve also made a short video explaining this further, but essentially you don’t need planning permission for a timber garage in Perth unless:
- You are using the Garage for business purposes
- You live in a conservation area or listed building
- You have a shared/communal garden
- You live in a shared house, like a tenement.
- You are using the Garage to create a boundary
- Your Garage is going to be within 1 metre of a boundary
- Your Garage wall height is more than 3 metres and overall garage height (including roof) is above 4 metres.
- Your Garage is going to take up 50% of your garden.
- Your Garage will be in front of your home.
If you are doing any of the above, then planning permission will be required for your build. You may also need to consider a building warrant, depending on your circumstances, but our team of experts are experienced in this area and can advise you on the permissions required in Perth.
